Practical guide
Basic tyre checks: pressure, wear and replacement
Start with vehicle-specified pressure and visual condition; have unusual wear or damage professionally assessed.

Use the vehicle’s pressure information
Read recommended cold pressure from the vehicle placard or manual, not the tyre sidewall as a vehicle recommendation. Check regularly, including the spare. Pressure warnings do not replace checking.
- Inspect visible wear and damage while safely parked.
- Consult manufacturer information and local requirements; a universal age limit cannot guarantee every tyre is safe.
- Ask a qualified tyre professional about unusual wear, damage or persistent pressure problems.
Keep checking separate from hazardous repair
This guide does not teach tyre dismantling or risky roadside replacement. Fitment, replacement and safety require vehicle-specific and actual tyre assessment.
